Malaysian and United States Military Co-Sponsor Senior-Level Seminar on Pandemic Influenza
The Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) Health Services and the U.S. Department of Defense co-sponsored a high-level
"Senior Leaders Seminar on Pandemic Influenza," from August 12 to 14, 2008 in Kuala Lumpur. The workshop was one of a
series of events organized to improve international coordination in containing pandemic outbreaks by enhancing the
laboratory capacity and protocol measures of key civilian and military entities in the Asia-Pacific region. The Center
of Excellence in Disaster Management & Humanitarian Assistance (COE), in conjunction with the U.S. Pacific Command, was
a co-sponsor of this event, which brought together senior government and military representatives from 14 countries in
South and Southeast Asia involved in planning and policy for Pandemic Influenza outbreaks.
