8 Reference Books

The LRC maintains a non-circulating reference collection of approximately 800 volumes, including reports, fact sheets, and papers issued by think tanks and research institutions in the United States.

8 Periodicals

The LRC subscribes to more than 25 periodicals that cover a broad array of subjects. In additional to that, LRC has access to more than 450 full text periodicals through the PorQuest online database.

The LRC subscribes to International Herald Tribune for on-site reading. The Center also has additional 7 electronic newspapers available in full-text for on-site reference.

The LRC has access to major online databases in the United States, including:

Columbia International Affairs Online (CIAO)
Full text service for working papers, conference proceedings, and books from over 130 contributing institutions.

EBSCO Host

Includes databases such as the MaterFILE Premier covering full text for over 1,890 periodicals and abstracts and indexing for over 2,800 journals on all subjects.

• Military & Government Collection: This database offers a collection of periodicals, academic journals, and other content pertinent to military and government issues. It provides cover-to-cover full text for 292 journals and periodicals. The database also includes full text for 245 pamphlets, and offers indexing and abstracts for nearly 390 titles. Publications covered in this database include: Defense Studies; Global Security Review; Foreign Affairs; and many more.

• Business Source Premier: This database offers full text for 3,048 business journals covering economics, finance, international business, and much more.

• Environmental Issues & Policy Index: This database offers deep coverage in applicable areas of agriculture, ecosystem ecology, energy, environmental law, geography, marine resources, urban planning, and more.

• Academic Search Premier: This offers information from many sources found in no other database. It contains full text for 3,990 scholarly publications, with more than 100 going back to 1975 or further. This collection provides full text journal coverage for nearly all academic areas of study

Encyclopedia Britannica
Provides access to the complete Encyclopedia Britannica with related Internet sites, Britannica's Internet Guide, and Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary.

Federal News Service (FNS)
Federal News Service (FNS) allows you transcripts of the actual words spoken by American on matters of official Government policy and other issues of the day, FNS produces transcripts of Presidential statements; briefings at the White House, State, Defense and Justice departments; speeches and press conferences of major political leaders and spokespersons; and Congressional hearings.

• Biography Resource Center + The Complete Marquis Who's Who(r): Covers over 330,000 biographies on more than 220,000 people from nearly 80 sources, with full-text articles from more than 250 periodicals including American History, The Christian Century, Saturday Night, U.S. News & World Report. An added feature is The Complete Marquis Who's Who, ® available as an add-on module to find quick reference information on an additional 900,000 people.

§         Association Unlimited: Contains information for approximately 460,000 international and U.S. national, regional, state, and local nonprofit membership organizations in all fields, including IRS data on U.S. 501(c) nonprofit organizations.

Leadership Directories
The Leadership Directories provides detailed contact information for 400,000 leaders of 40,000 U.S. government, business, professional, and nonprofit institutions.

ProQuest Direct

Comprises of ABI/INFORM Global covering 1000 premier worldwide business periodicals along with full-text articles from 1986 and information on 60,000+ companies; The Academic Research Library covers journals, magazines and newspapers for information on a broad range of general reference subjects including arts, business, humanities, social sciences, and the sciences; Academic Research Newspapers covers Barrons in full text and abstracts of newspapers such as The New York Times, Wall Street Journal and USA Today.

Public Diplomacy Query (PDQ)

Includes a wide array of text, documents, publications, reports, and other materials on U.S. foreign policy and the Department of State’s International Information Programs, as well as more general information about U.S. government, society, and culture.

Stat-USA

Service of the U.S. Department of Commerce, is for the U.S. business, economic and trade community, providing authoritative information from the Federal government. It includes the State of the Nation (SOTN) section on various financial and economic data from throughout the federal government and other related entities. Global Business Opportunities (GLOBUS) offers daily trade leads from the Trade Opportunities Program, as well as the Department of Agriculture. The National Trade Data Bank (NTDB) provides access to Country Commercial Guides, Market Research reports, Best Market reports and other programs. The International Trade Library is a comprehensive collection of over 40,000 documents related to international trade. All are full text searchable, as well as keyword searchable by country or product.
